Hedwige Nuyens serves as the CEO of the International Banking Federation (IBFed), a pivotal organisation representing national banking associations worldwide. At the helm of IBFed, Hedwige spearheads policy advocacy efforts, enhancing the financial services industry's capacity to address multilateral and national government challenges that impact their collective interests.
Her background includes roles such as Head of Regulatory Affairs, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer within major European banks, where she built extensive expertise in strategy, risk management, finance, compliance, regulatory affairs, sustainability and digital transformation.
Hedwige dedicates her time to pro bono work with European Women on Boards, a non-profit organization committed to promoting gender balance within Executive Committees and Boardrooms.
Hedwige holds a degree from the Faculty of Law and a master's in financial sciences from the Catholic University of Louvain, alongside a master's in business administration and finance from EHSAL Brussels. She followed Master Classes on Digital Transformation at INSEAD, Sustainable Finance at Cambridge, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at MIT, and Cyber Security at Harvard.
