CIO
An Swalens is the CIO of the National Bank of Belgium (NBB), ensuring financial stability and supervising the financial system, guaranteeing safe cash and efficient payment systems, and providing financial-economic insight to Belgian citizens.
As CIO, An strongly invests in people, skills and culture and a close business-IT partnership, translating enterprise strategic goals in concrete and agile deliverables. She leads the implementation of an ambitious cloud and data strategy within strict security constraints, combining innovation and stability for NBB. She is a member of the IT Committee headed by ECB (Eurosystem) and also independent board member of Athumi.
Between 2010 and 2019 she served as Director and CIO of Partena-Promeris, active in health services. She led the overarching IT organization and drove for synergy and value inside the Partena group. Prior to that, she served in international technical sales & management functions in IT companies (Proximus, Lucent/Nokia, EDS/HP).
An holds master’s degrees in Civil Engineering and Human Resources. She is enthusiastic, persistent, and passionate to deliver value with technology and guide people in a positive change journey. She is ambassador of diversity and women in tech (Inspiring 50-2022).
In 2023, she was chosen as Datanews CIO-of-the-Year.
