Founder & Managing Director
Rik Coeckelbergs is the Founder and Managing Director of The Banking Scene, a network organisation for bankers and is passionate about building communities and conceptualising ideas, enabling sustainable business models. Over the years, the community grew to 5 inspirational events in Luxembourg, Amsterdam and Brussels, the biggest with +400 attendees.
Before his entrepreneurial journey, Rik worked for +10 years in the financial services industry in various roles, both as an external consultant and in internal roles in business, strategy and marketing. In 2009, he created a LinkedIn community called “Innovation In Payments”, which today is the most prominent payments group worldwide with +90k members.
Rik is a regular blogger on thebankingscene.com and a guest writer for third-party websites, and a commentator in the national (Belgian) press. Occasionally, he contributes to publications, like in 2019 the “Regtech Blackbook – The Sequel”. More importantly, in 2021, Rik contributed to 2 chapters in Chris Skinner’s most recent bestselling book “Digital for Good”, an interview with Marc Lauwers, CEO of Argenta, on purposeful banking and a second one sharing his vision for the bank in 2040.
