In October 2022, it became clear that NewB, the new Belgian challenger bank, could not continue to work under a banking license.
A strategic review was needed to determine the best scenario to continue the good work towards a greener future.
On January 14, the bank announced a strategic alliance with vdk bank, a Belgian cooperative from Ghent.
We invite Leen Van den Neste, Chairwoman of vdk bank to explain to us how they got there and what this means exactly, for shareholders, clients and the further expansion of vdk bank as a front-runner in sustainable banking.
About Leen
Leen Van den Neste has been a member of the Board of Directors of vdk bank since 2008, where she effectively joined on 1 September 2011. On 1 April 2012, she became chairwoman of the executive committee.She has worked successively for KPMG and Groep Arco.
She is also a member of the board of directors of Retail Estates and a director at AA Gent football club, as well as a member of the board of directors of FPIM. Leen Van den Neste is also a board member of the financial employers' organisation Febelfin.
