Bank of the Future: mission-driven, invisible and proactive

On March 4, we bring new energy to the "Bank of the Future" discussion with Peter Van Hees. As the co-Founder of Cake, the profitable banking app, and a former Innovation Manager at KBC, he can look at banks and banking from different perspectives.

When I asked him is he was interested, I explained the two themes, it was hard to figure out whether it would be a "Banking for Good" or a "Bank of the Future", but I guess that by now, we all know both are intertwined.

In this session, we talk with Peter about his vision on the future bank and the role of fintechs like Cake to add value to the customer. He believes that banking will get increasingly invisible and more relevant and purposeful than ever before.

In the last 20 years Peter has been privileged to build up an all-round profile working for both start-ups and several industry-leading enterprise companies: including KBC, Microsoft, Cronos, Hewlett Packard (Compaq), AB Inbev (Interbrew) and Proximus (Belgacom).

In the last years he focused as a product owner for innovative digital products:

  • As head of product at Cake; a new innovative software technology provider that analyzes financial data to help people better understand, control and improve their finances. Supported by a data monetization business model that shares its revenue with our users, financed by software that helps our business partners to better understand their market.
  • As innovation manager, and digital product owner at KBC; a Belgian multi-channel bank-insurer, focusing on private clients and small and medium-sized enterprises in Belgium, Ireland, Central Europe and South-East Asia.
